(5) General Poster Abstract Information.Criteria, Instructions and Desighn Requirements.

1. You may use any application for the design. A suggestion for an application that would be useful to design a Poster is a PowerPoint application. Create your Poster as a single slide. You can set the page size when you start using Design > Page Setup. We need a Portrait Poster (Dimensions: Width: 90, 00 cm x Height: 120 cm for the canvas), you can specify this before you start (there isn't any template pre-designed for that option, but you can enter the dimensions manually).
2. Titles and headings should be bold. Text should not be bold.
3. Poster title should be 30-100 points max.
4. Fonts: Times New Roman.
5. Fonts’ sizes: Title: 72, Authors: 46, Other Titles: (Purpose, Materials - Methods, Results and Conclusions) 36, Texts: 21, Photo Titles: 22-35.
6. Photographs: To be effective, a photo needs to a) contribute to your message (be relevant to your purpose), b) be well composed (aesthetically pleasing), c) have proper exposure, focus, contrast, and resolution. Keep in mind that images that may look good on a Website or computer screen may not have enough resolution to look good when displayed on a poster. Images display on a computer screen at about 96 pixels per inch, but in prints should be at least twice that resolution (ideally between 200 ppi and 300 ppi). If you use an image from a Web site on your poster, it may look excessively pixelated.
7. Other Elements (Graphics): You may include other graphic elements, such as diagrams, artwork, charts even QR-Codes in your poster. A poster that only includes text is dull. Graphics can engage the attention of viewers, which is good. But be sure that the graphic elements reinforce your content rather than distracting attention away from it.
8. In the upper left corner you have to insert the logo of the 1st Dental Technician Meeting of the 12th ESLO Congress.
9. PDF conversion. The file we need for the printing step.
When converting your poster to PDF, take care that your images are not degraded in the process. They may look fine on-screen but then look blurry or pixelated when printed.
The following process, PowerPoint, will ensure that images retain their resolution up to Poster’s size (provided that they were sufficiently high-resolution in the first place - 300 pixels per inch should be sufficient).
First, set the page size: Design > Page setup... in PPT / Page Layout > Size
If using PDFCreator or Adobe Acrobat to convert to PDF, check the print resolution before converting:
Set printer to Adobe PDF or PDFCreator, and click Printer Properties underneath
Select Layout tab and click Advanced...
Set Graphic > Print Quality to at least 600 dpi. You are ready to export to PDF file. This is the file that will be sent to: antonopoulos@gmail.com.
